ÉMILIE BOUCHARD-  FORTIER

BIO

My name is Émilie B Fortier, and I am an artist based in Tiohtià:ke / Montréal/. I am finishing my BFA major in sculpture at Concordia. I studied fine arts and sciences in Cegep de Saint-Laurent a long time ago, then explored design, physical and natural therapy, electronics and programming. I came back to sculpture driven by the desire to reacquire a sensitive connection to the material world.

ARTIST STATEMENT

My practice explores the cyclical interdependence between matter, the body and their environment. Guided by a creative process rooted in reciprocity with the inanimate, I investigate—through form—the dynamics of connection, attachment, and dissociation.

I draw from the felt experience of everyday life, shaped by the rhythms and tensions of the urban landscape. My work responds to physical sensations—pain, contractions, release—both observed and embodied, both caused by and reflective of the environments we inhabit.
